God bless and enjoy the episode.

Ian Hess:

Hello, and welcome to Clock Into Your Calling introduction episode number one. My name is Ian, and I will be your host for this podcast. My goal of this podcast is just to remind us that we need to show with purpose wherever God has us in our current season. Whether you're working, running errands, at the gym, or just trying to stay grounded in your faith, you're in the right place. Thank you for investing a few moments of your time to be here today.

Ian Hess:

Let's get into what the show is all about. So now I wanna introduce myself to you guys and also share with why I even started this podcast to begin with. By trade, I'm a structural concrete builder with a degree in civil engineering, also a former basketball player of many, many years, a little bit of college experience as well. About three to four years ago, though, towards the end of my college career at UCF is when everything started to shift for me. Before I found God, I spent so many days just feeling lost, anxious, depressed, disconnected, and I was constantly wondering to myself, Does my life even matter?

Ian Hess:

Does my life have purpose? What am I supposed to be doing here? Can I make a difference with my life? I was chasing fulfillment in all the wrong places, nights out drinking, chasing after women, fulfillment, purpose, and I was living a life that was dominated by my flesh and driven by that. On the outside, it could have appeared that I was having a good life, whether you saw my social media posts, see how I was in public, but in reality, I was just empty and had a God sized void in my heart that I was desperately looking and searching for.

Ian Hess:

Eventually my search turned into something deeper. I became craving real authentic friendships, relationships, and something beyond the surface level that I had at the moment and also those temporary highs that I was getting from the different experiences and the things that I was going to. By God's grace, with the help of the people at my church, close friends and family, I began to see that my life did have a purpose. I started to understand that my gifts that were given to me by God were not to be wasted, but they were to be used for his glory and others' good. That realization truly lit a fire inside of me.

Ian Hess:

I wanted to live differently because of that and started to apply the kingdom principles that I was learning in church to every time between church, Monday through Saturday as well. How many of us know someone who's living a double life? Maybe someone who appears some way on social media, but in reality, they are just not living by that when the cameras aren't on or when everybody cannot see them. I want to confront that in this podcast, because I believe that Sunday shouldn't be the only day that we are letting the Holy Spirit lead our life. That Monday through Saturday should look just like our Sunday morning, because too often we can compartmentalize our faith, and that could be because of many reasons.

Ian Hess:

Whether we have fear of showing our faith in public and what others can think about us. It's comfortable to live the way the world is so we don't show our faith in public. We can have a lack of courage, but I believe God has more in store for us if we let him. So that was a little bit about me. Now let's talk about why I started this podcast.

Ian Hess:

I started this podcast because I believe that each and every one of us are placed right where we are on and for a purpose. Now we cannot wait for a title, a promotion, a change in circumstance, a relationship, a platform to be used by God, but God has already equipped us to live on purpose wherever we are right now, that we are meant to use the gifts that He has given us to steward them well, to sharpen them, to learn from them, to grow in them, to serve God and to serve others right where we are now. This podcast is about activating purpose right where we are. It's about helping us live on assignment, whether you're behind a desk, stocking shelves, at the gym, just passing by someone in the grocery store. It's about using those gifts to glorify God wherever we find ourself every single day.

Ian Hess:

Our mission is to stop separating the sacred from the ordinary and start living like every moment is holy, because when you're living on assignment, every moment is. So let's talk mission and expectations that you guys can have for this podcast. My mission statement is to encourage us as believers and to inspire us to live out our Monday through Saturday and help it look and feel more like our Sunday mornings. To talk expectations, I really just wanna share with you guys that the goals I have for this podcast, because I think they do a great job sharing the expectations that I have for each and every episode and this podcast as a whole. Number one is to activate a kingdom mindset, breaking the divide between the sacred and the secular, encouraging us not to compartmentalize our faith, but to take bold, authentic steps and to be bold in our workplaces, in our gym, in our stores while we're shopping, wherever we find ourselves to be that way, and to promote kingdom mindset over what culture has to say about how we should act.

Ian Hess:

Number two, promote intentional living through daily faithfulness. It's to empower us to live out each day, not just Sundays, with purpose by recognizing that consistent, even the smallest acts of faithfulness have eternal impact, and those decisions do make a difference when we look at our life and the direction that we want ahead with our life. Number three, equip for excellence in stewardship. It's encouraging us to leverage and to sharpen and to develop and to faithfully steward the gifts that God has given each and every one of us that we have, to use them for His glory and for others' good in our current season and location. The last one is what you guys are gonna see a lot of on this podcast, to highlight diverse callings.

Ian Hess:

It's to showcase stories from people in different vocations, different walks of life, to demonstrate how God uses all different kinds of vocations for His glory and inspire us to take faithful steps in our current season and location. The fifth one is just a personal goal of mine, is to honor your time. To do that, I will prepare well, provide valuable content, and to make sure that you guys are getting the most from the time that you're here, and that you have practical steps to walk away with and to be challenged a little bit in order to get ourself going and to live more intentionally for the kingdom and for God. The grounding scripture that I have for this podcast is Colossians three seventeen, and it says, In whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. And it talks about how in everything we say and in everything we do, we will do it for the kingdom of God and for His glory.

Ian Hess:

Logistically, if you guys are anything like me, you'd like to hear everything that's gonna go on with something before you get into it. So that's what I'm here to share with you guys, is all the logistics about this podcast. So one full season will be coming out around 12 ish episodes, them being around forty minutes long. This episode, the introduction, along with two other episodes, are going to be out right now. I'm not going to make you guys wait a week, drop the trailer, drop the introduction, and then wait another two weeks, but three episodes are basically out right now in total.

Ian Hess:

The episodes will be on all your major platforms. One thing that I'm realizing is that how many different platforms there are for podcasts in general. I didn't even realize there were so many, but they'll be on all of them. And if they're not, please leave a comment below where you'd like to see this podcast. For the video, make sure you check out YouTube, but for all the other platforms, it'll be on your Google Podcasts, Amazon Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, and all of those ones.

Ian Hess:

Each episode will have a specific topic that I will try to bring in a professional to come in and to learn from, to glean from, and to pick their mind about what they think on this topic and how we can all grow in this field. Each podcast, you can expect a challenge question at the end, something to take what we learn from the message and to grow our faith with it. So make sure you stick around to the end of the episode to hear that question and how to apply it to your life personally. I plan to do pretty much every episode with another person, this person being of all different vocations as we talked about in goal number four of highlighting diverse callings. We'll have pastors, business owners, other leaders in the industry, trainers, and people of other vocations as well, and there'll be interview conversational type episodes.

Ian Hess:

Some of the topics that we'll discuss on the podcast is identity, seeking God in the uncertainty, challenges of working in a secular field as a believer, performance based society that we live in, resting well and leveraging our yes in certain situations, and many, many more. The last thing is you guys can always expect authenticity from me. It is my goal to stay serious the whole time, but sometimes it doesn't happen. So expect to laugh, have fun, as we discover how we can be a better disciple for Jesus Christ. So if you're wondering, after hearing all that stuff, you're wondering, is this podcast for me?

Ian Hess:

Am I gonna get anything from being here or listening to this podcast? And I truly believe that this podcast is for someone who knows that they were created for more, but needs some clarity, some courage, some consistency to live that out. It's for the everyday person who wants to bring their faith into their workplace, into the gym, into their grocery store, wherever they find their self. If you're tired of compartmentalizing your faith, and you're ready to live your life on purpose and for a purpose, this podcast should add some value to your life. And if you're wondering, What difference can one person make?

Ian Hess:

What difference can I make personally? And I will never forget the person, the one person who consistently and intentionally sought me out and left who he was with every time I came to church in the beginning of my faith. And he left his friends and he came and sat with me. And he sat with me even when I didn't want to sit where he wanted to sit or just do things that he wanted to do, but he consistently sought me out. I will never forget that person.

Ian Hess:

And that person could be you for somebody else. So think about that person in your life that made such a big difference, because you have the opportunity to be that person for somebody else, seeing something in them that they don't even see yet, helping them achieve their dreams, going alongside of them and speaking life over them. But you have to be grounded in your faith and bold and authentic as well and intentional to do that for somebody else, and that's why it's so important to be that way. Okay, and just like that, that's a wrap for the season one, episode one introduction of the podcast Clock Into Your Calling. My heart behind this podcast is I just want you guys to know that God can use you right now wherever you are.

Ian Hess:

Expect to laugh, to be challenged, and to walk away with biblical principles that can be used in your individual life. You can expect real encouragement and to be challenged to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ. This isn't about perfection, it's about showing up consistently and letting God reshape your mind and your thoughts and living out your faith out loud wherever you are. Episodes will drop once a week on Tuesday afternoons, and if this resonates with you or you found this helpful, I'd love for you to like this, subscribe, leave a quick review, and share this. Maybe someone you know needs a quick reminder that their life is deeply meaningful to God.
